For thoses who haven't seen the pointer, look here for a new section on Orion Sector devoted to Horizon. Which brings up my question.
What is depicted in each of these screens?
Are they part of a cinematic? Splash screens? Concept art? _________________ i am sofa king we todd it |

Cann't wait for the next lot of in-screen images |

Perhaps all of the above!?! I don't know, but some do look like the might, and I only say might be pre-action cut scenes. You know, when you conquer a planet or are about to land ground troops on enemy territory etc. That might account for the large object above the planet in Pic.2. Of course, it could be a cinematic of the launch of your first Phobos-Class Space Fortress around Earth, which would tie in nicely with Pic.4 as a sort of before and after shot.
However, I suspect two things are true:
1. Only Zaimat really knows. But isn't telling.
2. That I am talking out of my hat (and I'm not wearing one at the moment). |

First one is the planet background of the barbecks, it is shown when you communicate with them, as seen in the alien archives.
Second one is a cruiser class ship not shown in the ship archives belonging to one of the alien races. A very unique design and one of my favorites.
Third is also a cruiser class ship, this should be easy to guess... Found in the ship archives.
The last one is a space station orbiting the homeworld of one of the more powerful races. Can you guess which one? Hint: The design of the station matches that of the ship. This is part of a cinematic but the station appears as well in actual gameplay. _________________ Horizon - Lead Designer |

IMO the ship in the 3rd screenshot is not an "easy guess".
only by rotating the ship in the archive i found out, and that despite this sheme beeing my favourite race-ship-design!
for the last screenie i put my bet on harkan. because the station and the harkan in the trailer do both have this "spikes"....
the 2nd screenie is a lazgoon i would assume... |

The ship in the second screenshot I'm going for as either the Gargal Regime, or the Kamzak Matriarchate.
The ship in the 3rd screenshot I would have to go with as being the Lezgoon League.
The ship in the fourth screen shot, is not crystal. not biological, not made of energy, yet it still has to be from a powerful race, so in the end I'm going for the Kamzak Matriarchate, or the Kuntari Republic.
So how about that deductive reasoning Zaimat |

Bah! This wretched computer still won't pick up the ship archives. I told you that viewing them once would have to be enough. That is why I didn't recognise them screens. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Nice work Sim, by the way. I wonder what it is though? |

Wow Zaimat, more detailed info than I expected. I was expecting more of the tortuous "Guess what this is. No. Guess again. No. Guess again... Muhahaha." Thanks.
Edit: I'm not saying I expected YOU to act evil; I'm saying I expect game designers to act evil or at least love teasing. _________________ Do not let light shine upon your opponent's mind through a hole in your body.

Ravana: Did you try the flash6 version? link
Let me know if it works or not.
DeckPrism: You make me sound so evil. Am I that bad?
Results so far (spoilers below):
Sim-mania: +0.5 points for half-guessing the ship is a kamzak ship. This is a hard one though. You don't even see the whole of it.
Therlun: might have +1 points. (3rd screenshot) ship is front view and like he said has to be rotated in the ship archives.
The last screen is none of the ones Sim guessed. While it's not crystal or energy it is partly bio-organic. Look at the protruding parts... Should be easy now... _________________ Horizon - Lead Designer |

If you hadn't said 'partly' bio-organic I'd guess Kor'tahz...
The design seems vaguely similar to the vale cruiser -- Kamzak. (Speaking of whom, are these creatures Minbari take-offs or what?? )
But I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I think that it's a Barbeck station.
So, how bad are my deductive skills?? _________________ Robert, the Earl of Huntingdon

By simple process of elimination, the last screenshot of the spacestation obviously belongs to the oldest race in the alien archives. (I meant to say this one all along) |

I believe it does Zaimat, it's just this nonsense of a network. Nothing to do about it I'm afraid.
Thanks anyway. |

The station is in fact kor'tahz. The station unlike their ships are not quite fully bio-organic, but a hybrid. The barbeck on the other hand (as you correctly deducted) exclusively use bio-organic technology.
It would have been a lot easyer to identify if you could see the texture but in that screenshot the sun is very bright.

There is a similarity in many ways indeed but unlike the minbari the kamzak are meant to be a true matriarchy.
Therlun: That's fine and great for those who can't see the flash version, thanks. Typically so long as the company and title are advertised + a link to the source and we are made aware it's fine with us. _________________ Horizon - Lead Designer |

When are these images presented in game. You said the first was a splash screen when you communicate with the Barbecks.
What about the second one? Is a short movie as they bombard your planet with plasma weapons? (Is that what those pinkish thingies are coming out of the ship?
I do like the the third one, too. Very imposing. _________________ i am sofa king we todd it |

Thanks for that Therlun. Having looked at them on your link, I can't say that I recognise all of the ships, so perhaps I didn't see the full version Sim. Despite all of Zaimat's best efforts to help out the network-impaired amongst us.
Thanks everyone, though. |
