|

Hi!
I've just found this game and when I checked the screenshots I saw this game has all the features-and maybe more- as my all time favorite game: MOO2, that I played last time two days ago with one of my friend in hot seat... Multiplayer mode cannot be compared to SP game. face It : there cannot be any AI which can compete with human players (even with large cheating bonus). Even gal civ 2 Ai sucks which-according to the developers- very smart...
I'd be more happy if this game had no AI at all just multiplayer mode. (maybe an ai could be added in a patch)
But it's just my oppinion
sry for spelling (english is not my first language) |

While I agree that MP is often better, I never liked Moo2 hotseat.
Besides the fact that Moo2 was terribly unbalancd needing many houserules, turns took ages to take!
The Galciv 2 AI will certainly not reach human level anytime soon, but it is always there to play with, and does take its turns fast.
Also, Horizons is based on unqeual Races/starting positions...
At least we were told so AGES ago. |

I have played MOO2 on hotseat several times and certainly it has it's strengths and I can understand what you mean.
But realistically speaking people play most games such as MOO/MOO2 in single player mode most of the time. So it would be difficult to promote a game without good single player experience first.
Having said that though the design of Horizon was not based on such considerations so much but rather what would be fun to do in such games that hasn't quite been done before. As Therlun mentioned, more unique races, a more 'realistic' galaxy where not every race starts on equal footing. More emphasis on exploration and discovery and dealing with races in interesting situations for a new fledgling space-faring race.
Fear not though if Horizon is modestly successful, some sort of multiplayer will be high in consideration in a sequel or add-on. _________________ Horizon - Lead Designer |

Moo2 can be played over LAN or internet (I'm still playing it ). And what is very good: the turns are simultaneous. |

IMHO, multiplayer was excellent in Moo2 - in LAN plays turns were simultaneous.
I think that adding multiplayer feature is crucial for success - even later as an add-on (if it possible) |
