Merry Christmas!
First and foremost wishing everyone a safe and Happy Holiday season!
Next a little update on the status of Horizon:
I have been working to put the development of Horizon back on track. That means most of my focus and our resources are back on re-building the L3O team and completing the game. It's a risk with the current economy but I believe strongly about both the game and the 4X gaming community to support us.
To that end we are looking to add a couple of experienced game developers to the team. If you happen to be a game programmer or 3D artist looking for work in Toronto have a look here.
With regards to "When will the game be ready?". With a little luck the game could be ready before the end of 2012. This is not an announcement just my best estimate for now.

Wish I could help but I'm none of the things you need and am no where near Toronto.
If there is anything I could do to help as one without experience I'd be willing to try to help.

Now this is excellent news...i look forward to see some more news and to play it.
You have a publisher yet? If not, try Matrix or Iceberg Interactive.
Check also how the guy financed "stardrive"...he collected 20'000 dollars within some months.

You know it crossed my mind a few months ago as well (I was trying the trailer on an iPad, Playbook).
When it was made as you said youtube didn't exist and bandwidth control was a real concern (we compressed it a lot and reduced the size and affected quality). We'll probably get around to making a new better version..
