Spammer you say? Wink

Okay, how about a legitimate question...I searched the forum and couldn't find anything about hardware, I know it's early and nothing is final.

What kind of hardware is the current build being tested on? What are the projected requirements/what hardware is being targeted. Just how intensive are the space battles going to be?

and you cry spammer! Wink

PS Hopefully I'm not an idiot and this hasn't been answered already.

I've been travelling and been trying to finish a number of things this past week so haven't had much of a chance to update.

About hardware (and many other things), I had been preparing a F.A.Q., next week I'll revise it and actually put it online and you guys can let me know if it's missing anything.

The game requirements in short Win98/WinXP/2000 with DirectX9. The most recent debug build was tested (on the low end) on an original Athlon 1ghz, 512m ram, Nvidia TNT-2 Ultra (AGP 2x, 32megs ram) running WinXP/Win98 with no noticeable problems albeit a little slow with lots of ships on screen. But remember this is a debug version (lots of unnecessary code that will be removed for the release build).

Our target is minimum P3/Athlon, 256megs ram, Video cards released after 2001. PCs purchased in the past several years will be quite adequate.

Space battles are turn based although like baldur's gate (if you've played it) you can toggle control on/off at anytime and watch action progress. You can also turn focus on/off (if another situation is happening in a different area of space at the same time, so you don't jump back and forth as each ships takes initiative) Intense? It's atleast as intense as MOO2 combat except it's different on a galaxy level, open ended and ships have more options, more tactical and strategic decisions. It's a lot more engaging and epic!

Have a good Easter and check out the screenshots section for a few additions Smile

The new screens look very cool. The ship design scree is very intresting. Since you have mines in the rear does that mean that weapons placed on the back end would be rear firing/launching? Also really like the ship screens, the planetar ships are especially inresting with what looks like possibly religous pylons built into their ships. Can't wait to see the game, keep up the great work.

The screen shots really do look fantastic.

I must say the hardware requirements are also a huge relief. The PC I currently own is perhaps 5 years old, with only upgrades been made to the graphics card. So it looks like I won't have to buy a new PC to play the game afterall.

The approach you're taking to space battles and the game in general seems more impressive with every update, keep up the good work and have a great Easter.
