I just wanted to know more about how Stargates and Space Stations work in horizon.
Q1. If you have multiple Stargates, how do you choose the exit point?
Q2. If you have uncovered Stargates belonging to your opponents, can you use them? : -
Example one: Can you fly your fleet through one of your own Stargates and exit via an opponents Stargate?
Example two: If your retreating from enemy territory, can you use their Stargates to return home?
Q3. Will you be able to cloak your Space Stations?
Q4. Can you use an Allies Space Station to repair and re-supply your fleet?
Q5. This may be a dumb/ignorant question, but can you build a Space Station that is not in orbit around a planet? |

I always assumed Stargates are bound to each other.
It is said they are like artificial Wormholes, so I guessed for every connection you need exactly two Gates that connect ONLY to each other.
I would like Space facitlities as strategic component too, although AFAIK there is no such thing as range in Horizon, which reduces the need to "cover" space in ... ehm space. |

I thought about that, then I remembered that Zaimat was a stargate fan, so I thought Horizon might introduce the same concept of a stargate network and allowing for choice of where you want to go.

That's true, yet you might build one close to enemy territory, especially in order to have the ability to build a stargate for quicker travel |

I hope stargates wont be THAT common (to use it as a regular strategic component).
I would like it more as a high-end tech that is kind of a great project in the later stages when your empire is already pretty large. |

I would think that a stargate would be sort of like the ultimate level of defense for an important colony or outpost. Its presence adds nothing to the immediate defense capability but does allow for instant arrival of reinforcements.

I agree, in MOO2 all you needed was a large fleet stationed at a stargate which allowed one turn movement to your colony and then a warp interdictor to ensure that they took more than one turn to arrive.
I also hope that they are such things as random findings/alien technology. Maybe in the form of a ship or something so that it can be moved to strategic planets but not on every one |

You get to select the exit point. So yes you can choose your destination stargate so long as it's under your control.
You can't use stargates belonging to opponents. Stargates are under the control of whoever owns the colony.

There are no plans to allow cloaked space stations at this time.
Yes, your ships will be repaired/re-supplied near allied stations although the repair rate will be a little slower.
You have to be in control of a planet to build a space station.

Stargates will not be very common although with a lot of luck you can discover it early on and have a couple built mid-game, it would certainly be an advantage. And certainly offer a great deal of defense to your important colonies that are some distance away from your homeworld.
But like everything there are also ways to counter (disable or even destroy) them. _________________ Horizon - Lead Designer |
