Hi,
being a space strategy fan, I stumbled over this
one just by accident.
Looks nice.
Am I really the second post since february?
Well, just one suggestion:
I read the text on the front page. No offense meant, but it's pure yadda yadda.
All I remembered is that this is going to be a turn based space strategy game and even that's pretty much what I expected when I saw the title.
What I'd be really interested in is: what is going to make this game special, different, possibly better than the rest? I'm sure you didn't just say "okay let's make another space strategy game", right? So what are your visions?
That's what I'd like to read on the front page.

Welcome redblaze and thank you for your comments!
Since we have not yet started actively advertising or informing the public, we have not had many visitors. May I ask how you stumbled onto us?
The text on the front-page was to give a short yet accurate description. We will certainly be posting a more detailed features page at some point (hopefully very soon).
The reason we have not done so at this point in the development there are many changes and we are very careful to release information that will remain part of the final product.
To give you a little bit more info about the game and our vision:
From the beginning we wanted to make Horizon - a space strategy game that had an interactive galaxy.
One implication of this design is that ships actually travel *in space* not just between two-points such as between stars. And thus one fleet of ships can intercept another at any point in between, making tactical combat more interesting and the game more strategic as well as realistic.
Another implication of this design goal was to have a galaxy full of other species with their own stories, culture and plots. To make them 'real' and interesting.
A second design goal was to make the game 'simple' to play yet hard to master. With decisions and individual steps easy to implement as long as your empire has the means to allow you.
I hope this gives you a better idea of what Horizon is about and the vision behind it's design. _________________ Horizon - Lead Designer |

Will it be somewhat like in Galactic Civilization? |

Not quite.
There is actual tactical level combat in Horizon where you take (unless you choose not to) control of your ships. And when you direct your fleet to move somewhere they are actually moving based on their initiative every round just as any other action they take..
Fleets can move/travel in space and battles can happen anywhere and at anytime (new ships can arrive in an already ongoing battle). The galaxy is on a really HUGE scale compared to other games which can host thousands of planets and hundreds of star systems (the player can decide when starting the game how populated a galaxy). Each sector of space can contain their own star system and you get to see your ships travel, engage into battles or station at any point.
For example you can blockade/defend a planet or place ships to patrol a certain section of space and intercept any trespassers/trade ships etc. _________________ Horizon - Lead Designer |
