Well hello, just dropped in to say hello. A fellow board member from another forum directed me here and Im interested, so unfortunately for you I'll be sticking around for a while... or at least until I ship out to boot camp
Edit - um, Ive also been fiddling around with the avatar for my profile but it seems to keep cutting off the JPG part of the url thus 'bad linking' the image. I dont know if it does so with other people but I thought Id just give you a heads up. _________________ Where are we going?

Hello Horizon! I really hope you guys succeed!
I'm a long time TBS gamer and Love 4X Space the most. I also enjoy building/develpoment part of TBS 4X. Exploring, eXpanding, and eXploiting are the foundation parts for a good TBS 4X Space game. The eXtermination part is of less importance. Needed but should not necessarily dominate the Game. I.e. after a sufficient show of Force there should still be options for Peaceful settlements. Do't get me wrong I love a good turn based space battle. Real time though takes to much away from the choices.
A question? Will this game use Diplomacy? If so think about including an option for a rival to surrender to the Human player. Most TBS 4X Space only use one side of this, you can surrender to the Rival(AI) but not the other way around. And especially if you've conquered a vast majority of the Rival(AI) empire. Don't make it were you Have to Conquer every last planet and totally annihilate the opponent. More thoughts on this later?
Again before I get too carried away --- Good Luck!

Welcome and stay a while, stay forever
Sabin: Is the avatar image too large? You can only link avatars of a certain size. What's the link, I'll take a look if you paste it for me and see if I can do something..
JosEPh: Thank you! I agree about the AI race surrendering and this is an option in diplomacy with certain races (some races may choose to fight to the end!). _________________ Horizon - Lead Designer |

I agree with JosEPH. Diplomacy, if done right, can add much needed depth to gameplay. Yes, it is fun to squish all of your nieghbors like so many bugs, but it would be nice to be able to opt out of the down hill slugfest that dominates most TBS endgames. There are times when you know you are going to win, no matter how badly you continue to play. _________________ i am sofa king we todd it |

http://www.angelfire.com/ak4/AG/UNIVERSEA.JPG
The file is 60x60 pixels in size.
I have another link to it which is from another board... I thought that might of been the problem (linking to another boards avatar database, but i guess not.) I know angelfire doesnt allow direct links but it was for experimentations sake. In any case this lets you take a look at the avatar and see what might be wrong. _________________ Where are we going?

I looked into it. The problems seems to stem from the extension being in uppercase. For some reason WebWizForums doesn't like it.
if you can rename the file
UNIVERSEA.JPG
with
UNIVERSEA.jpg
It should display properly. _________________ Horizon - Lead Designer |
