Heroes? leaders? please?

there is one thing i would like to see in a 4x game.. more hero/leader type characters.

eg, admirals for ship-to-ship space combat; generals for ground combat; diplomats for negotiations , etc; propaganda experts for boosting a race's image etc;partisan leaders for activities behind enemy lines/frontiers;insurgents, etc etc.

and not just 3 or 4. i mean a LOT.

Not a bad concept - may be hard to implement but would add another layer to the game.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

It would be good to have admirals for the space combat whose attributes could improve as they won battles but if their ship was destroyed the fleet would panick and not respond to commands as quickly, maybe retreat a little earlier than otherwise.



Shogun Total War had something like this, although they had less spaceships.

I would also like to see department heads or system leaders. People 'in charge' of specific areas of government. All this for the sole prupose of lopping off a few heads when things don't go my way. Ah, it's good to be the king. <img border="0" src= "smileys/smiley15.gif">



I think this would help in the immersion factor of the game. It would go along way towards giving the player a sense that his/her game actions affected "real" people. I DO NOT want to play a spreadsheet!
