My apologies Joseph for using your quote, but I could not have said it better myself. It has been 11 months since my previous visit, and this game is walking and quacking like vapourware. There appeared to be progress for the first two years, but I am seeing nothing new since January 2006…

Someone please correct me. I would love to buy a copy of this game.

I realize a lot of time has passed and I wish it had already been released me too.

It hasn't been easy but it never is when you are an independant developer trying to make such a game and still live a life.

The only thing I can assure you of is that I'm still working as hard as ever on it and making progress. The lack of updates has more to do with having displayed a lot early on (too early but that's inexperience on my part) and I daresay I don't think much more would be appropriate until it's finally done done.

In the meantime I will continue to do the best I can here. I want to keep this place as positive as I can even though there aren't much updates that doesn't mean we can't have discussions on anything related to Horizon, strategy games or sci-fi to those interested.

Well, you may think that i am a freak, but i have an calendar with the various games i intend to play as i have many but little time (i plan around 3 months per games) and Horizon is scheduled for July 2009 Wink

So no need to hurry for me....i have time Very Happy

PS: one question i have though...will the game require directx 10? i have XP and don't intend to change before...2012-14 (when support stops and i get a new comp) so will the game run on XP (directx 9.0c?)

I wouldn't say you are a freak just a very organized gamer Razz I'm in the same boat though a few hours to relax with the games I want to play is all I can manage these days. July 2009... check Cool

Horizon won't require DirectX 10. I don't forsee many games requiring it in the next 5 years if not longer unless microsoft releases DX10 for winXP.

People are not rushing to get Vista and certainly not gamers (WinXP runs games faster). There is no incentive for game developers. DirectX 9.0c has not even been used to it's full potential.

I suspected this would be the case but I'm glad to hear you confirm it. I have no plans to upgrade to Vista anytime soon. Frankly, I'm getting a little pissed at Microsoft's arrogance. Microsoft BADLY needs a viable competitor.

Heh, I'm here every day because incidentally this forum is the link first in my Quicklink bar...

And im always getting nervous when I see a red "new posts" indicator. Very Happy

two completely unconnected remarks:

What qualifies a user as a Vanguard? (There is a usergroup called vanguard+, but it has only a few members and the title is not only dependant on registration date)

and

Did you know that there is a SECRET developer forum?
There are a few "Dev. Team" members with a postcount above 0, but without any visible posts.

Call me master of deduction pls... Razz Wink

Yeah Therlun that's one of the neato things about phpBB... the secret forums that you can make totally disappear unless you have access rights. I've used that trick myself quite a bit actually, it's kinda fun...

So while I didn't "know" that it existed I rather suspected it would. Such creations are entirely too useful and handy to have.

Vanguard has some special rights, like creating polls for example. It's a select group of people that I've added manually (it's not based on any board stat).

Dev. team group indeed exists, it was created for the purpose of making comments between team members etc.

Hope it's the good type of 'nervous' feeling. And I do feel bad for not making more of an effort here, no excuses and it's good to read your post reminding me I got people checking in regularly.

I can't say I'm nervous but I am anxious!!

So Vanguards are "special"? Does that mean someone will be holding a telethon for us?

Avoid the rush and pledge $10,000 to me now. Wink

I really like the name Vanguard, sounds cool and the meaning applies so well here to you.

Here is a little background/trivia, Vanguard was the title of a game released in the early 80's where you controlled a ship and scrolling through obstacles had to survive and destoy enemy ships. It was one of the first games where you could control a space ship. These type of games became very popular arcade shooter/scrollers.

Who can guess what platform I first played this game! And a bonus, what series was vanguard's theme music taken from.

Ok, I know I'm not likely to get an answer, but hey, it's worth a try.

Soo.........

Since we're sort of on the subject and I'm "Special" (tm) ....

Any chance we can get an ETA on the game? Even a swag on what year it might be released?
