huh? did hit a nerve or something?
i know that gamemaking is a hard buisnes, and i can imagine it's is even more difficult for such a small and still unkown company.
i included the ferraris BECAUSE i know this.

im sorry if you felt as if i insulted "your" game company, it was just some remark. however, i think (and hope) that only you interpreted it that way.

you suggested should work on my spelling so may i in return suggest two things to you?

1st: i lost a bit of respect towards you whithout even knowing you.
perhaps you should reconsider using spelling and grammar mistakes as "arguments".
while you WILL find nearly endless ammounts of them in my texts, using them to 'attack' someone also WILL make a civilized conversation more difficult.(with people not as calm as me that is)
if you want to improve my knowledge of the english language i will happily listen to any comments.
if you use them as some kind of "argument" i will not.

2nd: trolls can ruin a forum and you probably took me for one.
however fanbois (and i mean this spelling) can ruin it too.
you should not take all things that personal or as an attack on your game/company.
some remarks are only ....remarks.

p.s.: boy a new high!
my third post made me an enemy.... Laughing
normally it takes me ten or twenty.

Please let's all keep things amical and get back to topic.

Just to keep things in perspective:

RobHuntingdon does not work for L3O. But he is a veteran of space strategy games and a regular here and deserves some respect.

At the same time I don't want anyone commenting on other people's grammer skills, we realize English is not everyone's first language and it makes people touchy.

I don't think anyone meant to insult, this is just a mis-understanding. So let's give each other the benefit of a doubt before jumping to conclusions.

Just FYI: I asked my boss when we are getting our Ferrari's, the answer was right after the personal jets!

Please accept my appologies, Theralun. I did not mean to be rude, but unfortunately I was. I minored in Technical Writing in college and sometimes I am a bit overly picky about that.

I certainly was not looking for an argument. But it does seem that a lot of people think the amount of raw income for a game translates directly into huge salaries for developers, which simply isn't true. But I usually try to point things out like this with a bit of humor... don't know where mine went the other day...

If possible, I'd prefer us not to be enemies -- but if we must, can we at least be friendly enemies? Smile

hii

what do you think of including some nice eastereggs? Smile
i thought of implementing some more or less hidden references to some old games and inspirations.

a few suggestions:

Star Control 2, the great.
there could be an encounter where one of your ships meets a unknown drone that first is friendly but then unexpectly changes its behavior and attacks....

MoO(1), the unreached, the eternal, the one and only.
another event could let you find some abonded communcation relais. with a picture of a nonworking robot that surprisingly looks somewhat like this:

(this picture is part of the worlds only(?)MoO1-AfterActionReport, written by ... me. Smile
it is only avaiable in german right now though )

Civilization, the key, the peak of its kind, followd only by inferior ancestors.
when your first colony ship lands, that intro-music when creating a new world in civ1 would really be nostalgic.
(or some music that sounds surprisingly similar without violating any copyrights...)

surley such events would not greatly improve the game....
but they wouldnt disturb any casual gamer (that does not know these games)and could bring a little smile on the players faces that do know them. and isnt that what you want? making the people happy after they payed your ferraries?

and perhaps it is a bit eraly for it....
on the other hand, if the graphics team does the ship model for the slylandro probe now the do not need to do it later. Wink[edited]

If you're going to suggest that purchasing the game will pay for their Ferraris, may I suggest you spell it correctly?

However, I would suggest that a lot fewer developers have Ferraris than you might think. Games are not cheap to produce, and even though hopefully the talented professionals in their employ make good money, they aren't being paid the outrageous sums of money you probably think they are.
