Patrol command asks you to select sector for patrolling.
But actually it not need it. I can select anything (I tried), and still afterwards my ship will remain in the same sector, patrolling.
It's obvious bug: either patrol is not intended to get extra directions, or ship must go to indicated sector. (I would select the first - it greatly speeds up the game and very convenient for case "make ship no-idle but not do anything".

I could not reproduce this. Tried with a new game and it worked fine in my tests. Steps taken:
1. Build ship (1 or more to group).
2. Give order patrol, left-click on a sector. Task force order shows patrol.
3. Ship moves to sector and begins patrolling until order is changed.
If you can still reproduce it not working for you, please send a report and I'll take a look.

Yes. And in my case it neither show "moving to sector X,Y", nor drawing line to this sector. It's simply "patrol".2. Give order patrol, left-click on a sector. Task force order shows patrol.
I will try this. If p.3 is right, then order itself works right - but not it's displaying.3. Ship moves to sector and begins patrolling until order is changed.

Yes, now I see. Order itself works. But it always display "patrol", even when in movement, instead expected "Patrol->Sector 3,14" or something, like it work for, say, colonizing. Also, it displays moving line only on second turn. Need to be corrected!

I think patrolling sector x-x would be a good addition(suggestion).

Done, it will now (in the next patch) display it's destination vector and sector info!
