Wow, quiet in here! Anyway I'm just starting to play around with modding this game and I was wondering what should I do with the animations for races? Is there a way to use a static picture in their place?
More questions to come!
Custom Race
Re: Custom Race
Currently it expects an ogv (ogg vorbis) format file for animations. It is possible to save a single image as an ogv since it loops it will work.

Re: Custom Race
Yes, once I realized I could create a .ogv file on my computer that was a nice solution.
Re: Custom Race
I personally couldn't get the freaking thing to even work...so i gave up.
Re: Custom Race
To create ogv files there are several encoders: LINK
Command line encoder: ffmpeg2theora LINK
- If you are comfortable using command-line this one does everything
GUI based: Theora Converter.NET LINK
- Easy to use. This one works well to convert AVI files but not suited for sequenced image files. Also tends to require killing the process from task manager after converting to use it again sometimes.
VLC media player can also convert. Easy to use but the menu system is a bit confusing.
