Star Trek Mod v1.0

Current version is 1.0 ===> Star Trek Mod v1.0.zip

I think the mod is now ready for its 1.0 release! I've add a total of 8 Star Trek races to the game. I may add the last three at some point. The only thing I need to do is figure out how to change all of the race's default information (philosophy, temperament, behavior, etc. ). I recommend until then you set those values manually to your liking before starting a game. Again, please report any issues/suggestions here. I still plan to update this mod. I'm not 100% happy with some of the graphics and will probably continue to tweak.

This eventually will be a complete Star Trek Mod for Horizon. I plan to change all of the included races in the base game into races found in Star Trek. I hope to have custom graphics and settings for each race. I will try to customize as much as the game will allow.

Note: At first I had attempted to covert 3D models into 2D sprites like the base game currently uses. I spent a lot of time finding good models and converting/resizing them. I was never really happy with the finishedlook of the results. Since there are a lot more 2D Star Trek ship graphics available I decided to use those instead. The in-game results look much better to me.

Please report any bugs/issues/requests in this forum.

I just tried this one out, excellent work so far!

Admittedly I wasn't sure how well the top-down sprites would look with the rest of the remaining assets, but it works fine.

What kind of progress can you tell us about? Any other new races, or maybe quests (if you plan on adding them)?

As a Star Trek fan I have to give a big thank you for making this mod.
I have not tried it yet, though I will, and I'm looking forward to seeing the full work.
I have missed a proper Start Trek 4x game ever since "Birth Of The Federation", and this one looks like it will be a good one.

Just a quick note, I've been busy the past few months but things are slowing down again. As of today I'm back to work on this mod! :D
Klingons are next. I plan to have only one graphic for each of the four ship type/sizes (for now at least) to speed things up. Plus it's hard to find enough useable top-down views of ships for some of the races. :shock:

You should go to "http://www.scifi-meshes.com" and ask on those forums for help. I did it years ago when I was working on a trek mod for another game and got some really nice help. Basicaly you can get extremely high quality meshes there for free to render yourself, but I would simply ask somone there who is active in the star trek section to render a bunch of ships top down for you. As it would be like about 5 seconds work. Load, switch to top view, render with alpha channel.. done. Worth a try any way.

With version 1.0.2.139 (available in the test branch before it goes live) you can now mod the holograms for each race. These are the animations used on relations view and galactic council.

These should be 256x256 pixel size. The folder structure is:
\Mods\Star Trek Mod\anims\council\race04\

To replace animations with single stills, set the framecount to 1 in a copy of miscellaneous_stats.xml in the mods folder
\Mods\Star Trek Mod\gamedata\miscellaneous_stats.xml
