blurry text and DX11

Post by Doc »

After a bit of searching regarding a problem I am having in game, I think I know the cause.

All text that is not rendered text(a graphic of a word), meaning regular text like the words you are reading right now, are blurry in the game, while everything else is as crisp as can be (running native resolution). This is not limited to Horizon, it is present in other games as well. It seems that this is a well known problem in DX11. those that have been able to fix this problem in other games have done it by disabling DX11 in the games launcher options, something that does not exist in this game.

Is this game using DX11? if so, can we have the option of disabling it?

Hi Doc,

The game is not using DX11, but DX9. Might I ask what resolution you are running at?

I am running native at 1600x900. And as I mentioned everything is crisp and clear except the in game text used in labels and menus. It's confusing to say the least.

This can also happen in DX9 if the game uses MLAA. it tries to blend text with the graphics.

found and fixed

Problem: intel graphics driver version 9.18.10.2817 ( at least the sony version ) displays text horribly fuzzy in the game. telling the computer to check for updates result in it responding that the latest driver is in use. downloading and manually installing the intel driver straight from intel, says that you have to use the computer manufacturer's version.

Solution: in windows 8, use the driver roll back feature. then update driver by choosing folder for the intel downloaded (expanded zip file) version. The 9.18.10.3165 release works perfectly.
