I thought I'd share a mod I've completed over the last few weeks. It replaces all the ingame races with ones that I think are a little more realistic. In the past I've read quite a lot of books on UFO's so I've based the stats and history of the new races in this mod on actual reported UFO encounters that I've read about. Maybe this will be something new for some people that have never read any of these books
I've written some back stories to the key races and this pops up at the start of the game. I've tried to keep this as brief as possible but its necessary as a bit of an intro and to set the scene. Hope its not boring or annoying
The new races are:
- The Pleiadians - replacing the Barbeck
- The Orions - replacing the Barsig
- The Oss (Nommos) - replacing the Gargal
- The Grey / Human hybrids - replacing the Harkan
- Humans (still Human) - updated stats and back story
- The Tall Whites - replacing the Kamzak
- The Anunnaki - replacing the Kortahz
- The Reptilians - replacing the Kuntari
- The Tall Greys - replacing the Lezgoon
- The Rigellan Greys - replacing the Tantik
- The Arcturians - replacing the Varaian
List of changes:
- Race portraits - race selection screen and ingame diplomacy panels
- Race history / back stories
- Race statistics
- Race starting relationships
- Some race logos
- New homeworlds and homeworld videos (replaced with still images)
- Diplomacy animations (replaced with still images)
- Mission text updated with new race names
- Missions changed slightly to suit new back stories
- Mission character portaits updated where necessary
I haven't replaced any ship graphics. Most of the existing graphics seem to also suit the new races with the exception of the Barbeck. The Barbeck ships are a little out of character and these really need replacing with a more 'classic' looking UFO for the Pleiadians. Doesn't really matter but I'll add this in the future if I can find the time...
