Basically reckless expansion is expanding farther and faster then other races want you to. After getting that message you have to wait 10 turns before colonizing another planet or you lose their respect and take a standings hit with them.

Just in case you don't know it: The behaviour you describe here is implemented in Endless Space. PS: I don't like this artificial limitation. It's like having star lanes on the "eXpand"part of 4X. This is why I am going to make a Mod out of it instead of suggesting it to be an actually up...

Very impressed with the changes. Havent had time for a full game as of yet but its a huge improvement. Every race I come in contact dies off after several rounds of playing; this happens on hard or very hard. Has anyone else had this problem or is this some random event? And does it mess up missions? Well, they all have their upsides and downsides, no weapon is better then another, its down to preference, do you prefer laser cannons? or perhaps particle cannons?...its definitely a preference thing. I would also like to see an option to have your ships only disable a planet to allow for invasion. A few times now I have ended up glassing a planet while attempting to disable its defenses for an invasion. I agree, I cant seem to not glass a planet if it has a missile base on it. The problem I see with looking at retreat like other 4x strats is that they just have the battle end and allow you to move via the strategic map. It's not at all realistic or interesting that you can buyout in one turn stuff (like endless space u could buyout 10ships at once or heavy develop new planets in one turn)...I see often with money upgrades u can buyout a ship in far less turns than building upgraded industry ten the ship...so whats...

Ok just ran through the Tutorial again quick to check it out. If you have done everything with Mars then the only thing left to do is engage the sector again and kill the pirates around the probe.

Hmm you shouldn't need to colonize Pluto, just mars gets colonized in the Tutorial. Im going to go back and do a play through but I think you need to hit engage and go to the probe again and raiders will appear.

IIRC…I think that dig does not apply to ancient ruins. Any fruits from this are only acquired upon colonization. In Alpha and Beta you did, I think what is happening is other races did the dig already but didn't set up a colony as it gives to benefits. The dig and the buildings you get if you colon...

yeah thats what I was thinking. Not a problem for my current game as I have trade with everyone but the Tantik and they are getting wiped off the face of the galaxy so I should be able to refit. Also just got shields so really need to refit them :). Would be nice if there was a refit starbase option...

Yeah I just sacked most of my fleet to the Tantik so I could rebuild it. Not sure exactly how to refit a star base but Im going to switch off of Fighters. I also don't like having to control them since a star base can fit so many.
