War is such an unpleasant business, don't you agree?
Isn't it far more convenient to live in a big galactic family, as equals among the equals (with, of course, Humanity more equal than the others)?
The problem is that currently it seems inpossible to form an alliance with Tantics.
I performed an experiment - for 20 years I've supplied them with my tech each turn (with supplies and monetary aid always timely renewed).
When I've ran out of my tech, I started giving them my colonies.
Then, when I've got only Sol left, I gathered up my courage and asked for their hand(?), hoof(?), pseudopodium(?), whatever, in alliance.
They said "No" and I was like "NOOOOOOO!".
Ok, I thought, I was too timid.
I've loaded a save game and repeated the whole process with asking for alliance each five turns.
Tantics always said "No".
Well, for now I consider Tantics to be eliminated at first opportunity, as I can't win the game with them still breathing.
Maybe any of you had better luck with them in beta?

In beta I was able to make friends with them but haven't allied with them.True_poser wrote:War is such an unpleasant business, don't you agree?

Re: Courting Tantics in beta
The Tantik aren't interested in diplomacy or being friends with anyone. They are similar to the Borg in StarTrek in some ways or the silicoids in moo2.
They are not quite functioning that way right now though as you can still try to make deals with them. Even though they refuse alliances and are usually not very cooperative. We're thinking of going the route of disabling diplomacy options when you try to talk to them except for greetings and one-liners.
There is of course exceptions to every rule, so there is a way to 'befriend' them and then diplomatic options would be enabled again, currently you can only befriend them not ally, we may change this.
