Farming,entertaiment and diplomacy questions?

The mechanics seems strange.I thought excess food does not actually help your empire apart from trade money and entertainment only gives tourism.

I was watching the painful Destructoid twitch and I heard the dev say having lots of excess food does help planets without food.It that actually true and how? Farming worlds seems kinda pointless without any empire level effect.

I also heard that entertainment helps morale.It this also true because the manual does not mention that?

I would also like to know what each diplomacy treaty actually does.This is not explained in either tool tips or the manual.

I may be mistaken, but.

Food excess is rare for me and it results in some measly mcs, not helping any starving worlds.

I've never noticed tourist buildings improving morale (however, it is hard to track, how morale changes and why).
It's also somewhat counter-intuitive for me.
Yes, sure, if you live in a town that is essentially a tourist attraction, it's frankly your job to be a background for all these tourists.
However, as someone born in a partially tourist city, I hold some dissent against the whole industry - ok, few people have all the money, but we all get traffic jams, overcrowded beaches, overpriced restaurants, etc.
Ingame, with profits from mere thousands of tourists comparable with taxes for the whole population I somehow doubt that much people can afford to attend these buildings.


As far as I understand:
- trade routes boost trade traffic with the race's colonies
- free trade further boosts it
- free travel boosts tourist traffic the the race's colonies
- intelligence makes you share races contacts and, I believe, locations of ships sighted
- non-aggression is self-explanatory
- ships resupply/supply aid allows the recipient to resupply their ships in the race's space for ten turns, speeding up the exploration
- monetary aid is 10% tribute for ten turns
- alliance is non-aggression with permanent supply aid, also, you can win by being allied to all surviving races
- research sharing gives boost to your RP (unfortunately, it's not possible to measure other race's RPs to understand, what percent from it does it add), available only in alliance
- stop expansion, as far as I understand, means your relations with a race will worsen if you colonize a planet in their supply range

Well, as one unit of food is consumed by 20k of population, what toursts eat is negligible.

Strange, because the last time I visited Santa Fe NM, I was eating the hell out of everything in sight. Perhaps this is just the effect of locally grown peppers in the salsa.
