AI difficulty

Post by MonkSR »

Hi, i am new to the game and have a couple questions.
1)In the actual release of the game will the AI have different difficulty settings?
2)will it have any type of online multiplayer?

Yes, the AI will have difficulty levels. We want to try first a dynamic AI difficulty level that can adjust based on how the player performs. The AI will start at normal level then move up or down in difficulty (in one direction per game).

If in practice this isn't working so well. We can always make it static that the player can choose at the start of the game.

Multiplayer is not planned for the full release. All I can say is that we will closely listen to what most players would like after the launch (addons/expansions/etc) and if it makes sense for us we will consider doing it.

Zaimat,

I have a suggestion ..... First, create a new "feedback" selection on the launcher called "End Game Feedback". When a player completes the game (win or lose), it will create an "End Game" file containing important statistics that are collected throughout the entire length of the game (you have this now actually in the stat window). You can review these stats and ask yourself the following questions as to why the AI lost (or won) in these areas ;

- Expansion
- Combat
- Diplomacy

From there, you can see at what point during the game the AI did a great move or a stupid move. That is the point where you make it dynamic based on what the players move was at the time (or the players ranking). Basically, you will be a historian and rewrite history (on paper) and apply this dynamic change with game code.

I don't know ... maybe you're doing this already? ... It's just an idea.

Thanks!
