Since troop & colonist resupply of ships are similar functions carried out in different fiddley ways by the game then couldn't these be streamlined into to a single ship order to make it more playable and intutative?
I know that you can choose how many troops to load but is that really necessary? Surely you just want to fill up to max each time. I'm not sure about redeploying troops to other systems as barracks are cheap to build and produce troops faster than I can ship them. So is this order neeeded? Could it be reworked into a single order that would move an empty colony ship into orbit of a selected planet with a starbase and resupply it and move an empty troop ship into orbit of a selected planet with troops and resupply it? I think this change would make it easier for new players diving straight in to grasp these aspects of the game.

Re: Troop & Colonist Resupply
I've learned that orbiting a starbase will reload colonist pods.
But I am unable to relaod ground troop pods in the same manner. How is this done?

Re: Troop & Colonist Resupply
To reload troops:
- Orbit a planet with troops available (barracks)
- select task force on galaxy map and select the order -> redeploy troops
- from the galaxy map on the system view (planet list) you will see arrows appearing to shuttle troops back and forth

If a colony doesn't have a high population they don't generate many soldiers so the current design was based so you could decide whether to reinforce a colony with soldiers from troop transports or reload them on the ship after a multi-race invasion (by default troops stay on the planet after a successful invasion). We are certainly willing to look at this to make it easier to figure out for new players.Cumberlow wrote:Since troop & colonist resupply of ships are similar functions carried out in different fiddly ways by the game then couldn't these be streamlined into to a single ship order to make it more playable and intuitive?

Re: Troop & Colonist Resupply
I have a suggestion ... New Task Force Orders ;Zaimat wrote: We are certainly willing to look at this to make it easier to figure out for new players.
(1) Orbit - Load/Unload Troops ... The fleet will orbit the planet and automatically LOAD troops (if none loaded) or UNLOAD troops (if loaded).
(2) Redeployment ... No change, but allows player to manage troops if they want to 'the old fashion way' (current way).
Note that #1 above could possibly fix the bug where a ship is too far from planet (inline formation bug) to load/unload troops. The only condition (code wise) would be 'orbit' instead of 'distance'.
