RESOLVED - How is refitting target calculated?
When retrofitting fleets I noticed that it's not consistent which value I get for the refitting target in the refitting window. Sometimes it is the design with the identical name which is the original design of my ship and sometimes I just get the first design in that class. Anybody knowing what's the rule for that and if I can control it?

Re: How is refitting target calculated?
It should works like this:
You build a ship with design slot #3 and name it Agamemnon. The design slot is saved with the ship. If you then select refit it will show by default it's original design slot #3.
This makes it convenient for retrofitting if you modify the Agamemnon design slot in the ship designer to Agamemnon2.
Is this not the case or did I misunderstand your question?

Re: How is refitting target calculated?
Planned behaviour is absolutely cool. Unfortunetly it doesn't work 100%. Sometimes I do get the associated slot and sometimes I don't. I think I get it so to say by accident when I use the first slot which is rarely the case with me.
I had the impression that I have to retrofit a fleet for the first time to get the proper slot associated but this also didn't fit 100% of the cases. Maybe renaming the design also plays a role in this issue because in my last game I renamed the design per revision (Mk II, Mk III and so on) using slot #3 and had to select the design for all ships. But this was the first retrofitting too.

Re: How is refitting target calculated?
Ok will test this out more, initial test seemed to work as expected but maybe some combination is causing it to lose it's associated design slot. Thanks for reporting it.

Re: How is refitting target calculated?
I checked the behaviour again (current version is 1.0.0.92, Steam Edition) and yep, the problem's definetely there. It doesn't occur at all fleets, in that game just with two of them. Both fleets are located in systems I conquered (invaded). It's possible that both fleets were already used in combat while the others (the working ones) weren't - but I cannot say for sure.
I made screenshots and I copied the save game file (autosave), but I don't see a way to upload it to this site. As the savegame is quite large (about 7 Megs) I don't want to send it via e-mail for I know many mail filters swallow more than 5 Megs. Please tell me if you'd like to have those files and how you want them to arrive.
PS: As this turned out to be a bug this thread maybe should be moved to the support section of the forum and properly renamed?

Re: How is refitting target calculated?
Fixed in the next update. Issue would occur when changing the default ship designs when creating a brand new ship.
